Gone with the Wind
If you're looking for an alternative day out for the family, give the exhiliaring new craze of blokarting a bash. This rather bizarre sounding activity is found to blow your hair back.
Blokarts are three-wheel drive karts with a sail: basically land yachts that are powered by the wind. They can be sailed on the beach, out in the desert or even a space as small as a tennis court.
These little karts are super-fast though and you can traverse a large area within a short space of time, so we'd recommend larger locations.
Children as young as seven can have a go, but everyone will need to be briefed first.
You can rent them for QR 50 for half-an-hour from Gulf Karts (507-2661) and if you really get into it you can buy them from QR 8,500 to QR 12,000 depending on the model. Note: for one hour the price is QR 100
Blokarting began in New Zealand around 2000.
