In the Pink -
October 19th

Ladies :)
What started out as an idea for a small gathering to raise funds for the Breast Cancer Awareness Organisation event 'In the Pink' has grown by huge proportions.
We already have around 30 ladies picking out something special to wear on the evening, be advised that we all have to wear a splash of pink. This is a great chance for us to raise awareness for a charity that works so hard to make a difference for those affected by breast cancer, I'm sure if we all think about it, we know at least one person who's life has been touched in some way by this.
http://www.breastcancercare.org.uk/content.php?page_id=2211
Money raised by the nationwide (UK) day will help towards the funding of:
Online chat forums and a free helpline - a lifeline for many sufferers who often feel isolated by the disease
A service that matches people going through breast cancer with a trained volunteer who has already been through it
Courses such as the Younger Women's Forum or Living with Breast Cancer.
All of these services are free but are dependant on fund-raising campaigns such as 'In the Pink'
The cut off date for adding your name to the rapidly growing list is the 15th of September, so that we can be sure of numbers etc.

Dear Dogs and Cats,
The dishes with the paw print are yours and contain your food. The other dishes are mine and contain my food. Please note, placing a paw print in the middle of my plate and food does not stake a claim for it becoming your food and dish, nor do I find that aesthetically pleasing in theslightest.
The stairway was not designed by NASCAR and is not a racetrack. Beating me to the bottom is not the object. Tripping me doesn't help because I fall faster than you can run.
I cannot buy anything bigger than a king sized bed. I am very sorry about this. Do not think I will continue sleeping on the couch to ensure your comfort.
Dogs and cats can actually curl up in a ball when they sleep. It is not necessary to sleep perpendicular to each other stretched out to the fullest extent possible. I also know that sticking tails straight out and having tongues hanging out the other end to maximize space is nothing but sarcasm.
For the last time, there is not a secret exit from the bathroom. If by some miracle I beat you there and manage to get the door shut, it is not necessary to claw, whine, meow, try to turn the knob or get your paw under the edge and try to pull the door open. I must exit through the same door I entered. Also, I have been using the bathroom for years --canine or feline attendance is not required.
The proper order is kiss me, then go smell the other dog or cat's butt. I cannot stress this enough!

_____________
The Doha Debates are a public forum for dialogue and freedom of speech in Qatar. They are chaired by the internationally renowned broadcaster Tim Sebastian, formerly of the BBC's HARDTalk programme, and held in the headquarters of the Qatar Foundation in Doha each month during the academic year.
For the past three years, the Doha Debates have been providing a platform for serious discussion of the hottest issues in the Arab and Islamic worlds, striving to be both controversial and informative. They have gained a huge international following through their broadcast on BBC World - the BBC's international television channel.
The Doha Debates are modeled on the Oxford Union debates. A motion is presented to the 350-strong audience and two speakers argue on behalf of the motion and two speak against it. Tim Sebastian questions the speakers on their positions, then opens the debate to questions from the audience. Finally, the audience votes for or against the motion, based on the merit of the arguments they have heard. Our invited speakers are highly regarded academics, politicians, religious figures, government officials, policy experts and journalists from around the world.
The Doha Debates are hosted and funded by the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development which is headed by Her Highness, Sheikha Mozah bint Nasser al Missned, wife of the Emir of Qatar who is pioneering educational and social reform in Qatar.
Although a project of Qatar Foundation, the Doha Debates are independently run. The Doha Debates team retains full editorial control and is solely responsible for the content of the Debates and the speakers who are invited.
The audience of the Doha Debates is made up of people living or visiting Qatar who register for tickets via the Doha Debates website. About half the audience is comprised of university and senior high school students who study in Qatar but who come from a wide range of Arab countries and beyond.
To register for tickets, please go to, 'Attend The Debates'.
